Hey everyone, this period I’m posting the bi-weekly update on the forum instead of X since we are cooking something new and I want to keep the discussion more internal to the community until the upcoming launch.
Here’s the summary:
ABC Labs is going to launch a series of geo-restricted AI thematic equity DTFs this summer, built on tokenized US stocks. Photonics first, perhaps power second, more after that, with the option to also offer a generic AI infrastructure DTF that captures the whole stack. We are aiming to ship the first one in June, on the same day the underlying stocks are released in tokenized form. About 75% of the team is shifting focus to this launch over the next four weeks.
Why now: The AI supply chain trade has gone mainstream. The DRAM ETF launched a month ago and went from zero to about $9B in AUM with virtually no marketing - one of the fastest-growing ETFs of all time. Hedge funds like Situational Awareness and Value Aligned Research are each sitting on multiple billions in AUM playing variants of this trade. The analysis itself has gone public on X. US equity tokenizers have taken notice and the category is about to come on chain. We will lead the category of onchain funds built on these tokenized AI supply chain equities.
Who it's for: Non-US, crypto-comfortable investors who can't easily get this exposure through a legacy broker. APAC and LATAM are the near-term focus. Our bet is that there are hundreds of millions, possibly billions of dollars of pent-up demand for this category abroad, and a meaningful share of that capital is already crypto-native.
Why this matters for Reserve as a whole: AI-related equities have the volatility of memecoins, but they are based on reality and have real cashflows. If we can bring hundreds of thousands of users to one big DTF, the other DTFs get easier to offer. This kind of setup - attention, volatility, and staying power all in one place - is an extremely rare and potentially very powerful moment to get the concept of DTFs off the ground.
A second product line in parallel: Our research pod is continuing work on a set of worldwide crypto DTFs (BTC/Gold and others) while the team sprints on the AI fund product launch. Both lines will ship over the summer. The crypto DTFs are timed against the bearish part of the cycle so users have a shot at riding a recovery.

The governance proposal for MIP-002 has passed and the plan is to migrate to a Metal blockchain specific subnet that will be tailored around MTL and XMD. The buildout will take some time and as soon as we have more updates on that front we will share! For now the Metal L2 will remain in place on Optimism Superchain.
